{"id":5807,"date":"2024-04-22T13:09:40","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T03:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thecherrytreegardenbraeside.com\/reports-of-rape-linked-to-online-dating-rise-450-in-five-years\/"},"modified":"2024-04-22T13:14:44","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T03:14:44","slug":"reports-of-rape-linked-to-online-dating-rise-450-in-five-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecherrytreegardenbraeside.com\/zh-hans\/reports-of-rape-linked-to-online-dating-rise-450-in-five-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Reports of Rape Linked to Online Dating Rise 450% in Five Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Melbourne recently, a horrific incident followed an online dating app meeting, and a young man lost his life.&nbsp; A young woman was arrested and is expected to be charged with murder (The AGE July 25, 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Reports of online&nbsp;dating-related rape have risen by more than 450% the National Crime Agency announced recently, warning that&nbsp;the surge&nbsp;in online dating had given rise to a &#8220;new kind of sexual offender.&#8221; The number of reports of people raped during their first face-to-face meeting following initial contact online showed an almost sixfold increase.&nbsp; It said&nbsp;85% of those reporting rapes&nbsp;were women and 15% were men, most occurred on the first face-to-face meeting following online contact. Given these alarming, even frightening statistics, (and evidence that as many as 75% of these rapes go unreported) the question must be asked why do sex-workers also put themselves at such obvious risk on dating sites when the legal brothels provide a well-regulated, safe alternative?<\/p>\n<p>Ladies\u2026you are NOT safe!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Think this is only happening to sex-workers who \u201c<strong><em>aren\u2019t careful<\/em><\/strong>\u201c?<\/li>\n<li>Think this only happens to \u201c<strong><em>other women<\/em><\/strong>\u201c?<\/li>\n<li>Think this type of thing only happens in \u201c<strong><em>other areas<\/em><\/strong>\u201c?<\/li>\n<li>Think \u201c<strong><em>that\u2019s not going to happen to me<\/em><\/strong>\u201c?<\/li>\n<li>Think \u201c<strong><em>I don\u2019t use THAT dating site <\/em><\/strong>\u201c?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Think again.
